The Chopta–Chandrashila Trek is one of the most scenic and rewarding Himalayan treks in Uttarakhand, perfect for beginners as well as experienced trekkers. Starting from the lush meadows of Chopta (often called the Mini Switzerland of India), the trail takes you through dense forests of rhododendron and oak, leading to the ancient Tungnath Temple—the highest Shiva temple in the world.
From Tungnath, the trek continues to the Chandrashila Summit, perched at an altitude of around 4,000 meters (13,100 ft). The summit offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of some of the tallest Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Chaukhamba, and Kedar Peak.
The trek is known for its short duration, well-marked trails, and ever-changing landscapes—snow-covered paths in winter, blooming rhododendrons in spring, and crystal-clear skies in autumn. It is ideal for those seeking a blend of adventure, spirituality, and natural beauty in a compact trek.
Whether you’re trekking for sunrise views, snow adventures, or spiritual exploration, the Chopta–Chandrashila Trek delivers an unforgettable Himalayan experience.
